Friends in Need
Through our Friends in Need program, we assist  animal victims of domestic violence.
Studies show that 28% of the women who need to enter a domestic violence shelter
will not do so out of concern for their companion animal whom they do not want to
leave at the mercy of their abuser. Domestic violence hurts everyone, including the
family pet. We have a network of safe houses, veterinarians, trainers and groomers
who will provide shelter for animals in need while their guardian gets her life
together again.
Friends in need means something else as well. Do you know of a kind kid? A Kind
Kid is a kid who has gone out of his or her way to be a friend to an animal in
need. If you know of such a kid, no matter how small his or her efforts may have
been, let us know. We will come to their school and present them with a Humane
Hero award from
Humane Educators' Reaching Out (HERO)

So, Parents and Teachers, do you know of a great kid who has done something
wonderful for animals?  Nominate them for the Humane Hero Award!  We will
come out to your child's school, present them with an award and treat their class
to an ice cream party!  We will make such a fuss that everyone will think they
won the lottery! But it's the animals who win when a kind kid acts responsibly.

Their teacher will win a full year's subscription to Kind News, courtesy of
Village
Animal Clinic It's a win-win situation for everyone.  Send us an e-mail with the
childs' name, school and detailing the act of kindness to animals.  Everyone's a
winner.

Everyone needs a friend. Animals, especially, can use all the
friends they can get because there is always an animal in need, in
trouble, somewhere.
Can you help us identify those who are friends to animals in need?
